Black Trumpet
A new evening gown, inspired by Balenciaga’s 1951 Trumpet dress, as recreated for Carey Mulligan to wear at the 96th Annual Academy Awards in 2024.
The dress is a mermaid silhouette cut on the bias and with a sweetheart neck.
The dress has uneven floral petal like hem line.
The dress is made of black velvet and lined with black silk dupioni.
Under the dress there is a semi underskirt with white tulle gathered to create the vast flare which supports the petals of the dress hem.
The necklace is made with black and white seed beads in an homage to J’adore Dior necklace.
The earrings are from my stock of jewelry in white rhinestone.
Black suede like shoes are included as well as the long black opera, four fingers gloves that are made of black Lycra.
